The Turkish Angora is a very rare breed in the UK, not to be confused with the British Angora, Turkish Van or Oriental Longhair! They are incredibly vocal, friendly cats, with wonderful personalities, who love spending time with ‘their’ humans. If you want a cat that prefers spending time on its own, this is not the cat for you; the Turkish Angora is a very attention-seeking cat! However, if you want a cat for cuddles and play, the Turkish Angora will provide both very happily, usually purring at top volume. They are inquisitive, affectionate and charming, although their tendency towards a slightly boisterous nature means they may not get on well with very quiet cats, and will try to dominate play.
Turkish Angoras are semi-longhaired cats but, unlike Maine Coons, their fur is fine and less prone to matting. Occasional grooming may be required around the slightly longer fur on the backs of the legs or tummy.
